Command Sergeant Major
Gretchen Evans (Ret.)
In 2006, while deployed as a sergeant major in Afghanistan, a mortar blast caused a severe Traumatic Brain Injury and the loss of 95% of her hearing, an injury that ended her military career. Today, as a Purple Heart recipient, Gretchen and her adventure racing team, Team UNBROKEN, bring awareness that disabilities do not define or limit what is possible with hard work, grit, gumption, and a rope team.

Scotty is a true testament to the resilience of the human spirit. As a Guitars4Vets graduate, recording artist, and combat veteran, he has overcome unimaginable challenges and transformed his life through the healing power of music. We are proud to share the stories of veterans they’ve impacted.
